Gallery of Silesian OstravaGallery of Silesian Ostrava is a cultural facility of the city district Silesian Ostrava founded in 2008. It commenced its activities by a series of exhibitions on architectural themes. Since 2009, the gallery has expanded its conception with photographic exhibitions focussing on stage design or famous people. Since 2010, fine art (e.g. R. Fučíková, I. Titor, I. Kitzberger) has played the leading role in the exhibition show schedule. Since 2011 the gallery dramaturgy has preferred those artists that tied their life, work or educational activities with Ostrava such as K. Lepík, E. Damborská. In the next years there were big exposition projects, e.g. Ostrava art or The Contemporary Czech Industrial and more expositions are coming that are organised in co-operation with other galleries like Plej!. The year 2014 brought us apart from other things an exhibition of a Czech Canadian M. Gabánková and a popular step at widening the scope of the gallery in applied arts of I. Bohdanová Bortoliová. This year the Gallery of Silesian Ostrava presented a photographer M. Urbánek, a project Galerie La Femme, Homework and a family exhibition of V. Varmuža and G. Nováková. The exhibitions usually have supporting programs, such as openings, closings, guided tours with the author, screenings, concerts, author readings, workshops, and discussions. Also other events like conferences, social events and seminars take place here. The gallery has wheel-chair access.
